July 2006 Garvan Garden, Hot Springs, Arkansas Garvan's Tulip Extravaganza, Hot Springs, Arkansas Huntsville Alabama Botanical Garden 2005 Picturetrail/Green Thumb Reunion 2004 The World is so empty if one thinks only of the mountains, rivers, and cities; but to know someone who thinks and feels with us, and who, though distant is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden. I've moved to a new gardening Zone 6 in Tennessee. My new home is already beautifully landscaped. I'm looking forward to adding some of my favorites from MS. I've always admired northern gardener's Peonies. Now I can have them also. It has rained almost everyday since we arrived. It's like a rainforest. It seems a little unusual for July. The grass is growing so fast it needs mowing every few days. With woods close by there are so many birds. I especially love the hummingbirds and bluebirds. 2003
Early mornings are wonderful magical times. The horses are out in the east pasture waiting for me to let them in to the west pasture for some grazing. The cats follow me around on my walk to the gates and through the gardens. Then comes the afternoons, I love lazy summer days in the afternoons when there is a soft breeze blowing, and the sky is filled with those huge billowy clouds. There is the wonderful smell of freshly mown lawn (only surpassed by freshly mown hay). And then comes twilight, with the lightening bugs glittering down in the hosta gardens, moving their way up the drive to the other perennial beds. Then there is night, with the strong clear moonlight dancing through the yards.. And this is only summer, there are the three other season that offer their own enchantment.. Each one to be savored. It really makes life special. Temple of Flora by Robert John Thornton

Everywhere water is a thing of beauty gleaming in the dewdrop,
singing in the summer rain.

Pink crinums are blooming this year after being transplanted last summer. I'm glad to see they are hardy in Zone 6.
